About 1,200 pubs have been lost in 15 years in London.
The only region in London, that had an increase of pub openings was Hackney.
Another regions in London (Croydon, Waltham Forest, Hounslow and Lewisham) have lost almost half of their pubs since 2001, and some (Barking, Dagenham and Newham) - even more than half.
As it is said by City Halls, the reasons of pubs number decrease can be resulted from conflicting parties (residents and developers), spike of business rate and alleviating of development rights in year 2015, specifically - some types of development can be done without construction permit.
London mayor Sadiq Khan showed concern about lower number of pubs and assured to take measures, in order to prevent further pubs closing, namely audition. It is the part of identifying what is needed for maintaining London`s cultural sphere of life.
