London Taxi Co, owned by the Chinese automaker Geely, announced the change of name. Now it will be called London EV Co (LEVC), and along with the name change, the company will offer passengers new London cabs. Preserving the traditional black body with coarse shapes, under the hood of the car is now more perfect stuffing: both electric and hybrid engines.
On one charge of the electric motor the car will be able to drive 110 kilometers, and on the "electrician" and "hybrid" simultaneously - 640 km. The reason for installing two engines at once is simple - the ability to provide drivers and passengers with long range, which is impossible today for cars with electric motors.
Recalling, that Geely bought London Taxi Co in 2013 for 11 million pounds sterling and since then has invested in the taxi service about 325 million pounds. Of these, about 300 million were sent for the construction of a plant in Coventry. Here it should be added that according to the new requirement of legislation, all new London cabs should use electric motors from January 1, 2018. It is expected that by the end of 2020, 9,000 London taxis will become completely ecologically clean.
