London Local Energy (LLE) believes that oil and gas fields can be located below the Artesian Close Industrial Estate in Willesden (northwest London). Now the company intends to obtain a license for geological exploration of this field. The company believes that geological exploration at a depth of 1,700 feet can be carried out using modern equipment and if the availability of useful hydrocarbons is confirmed, it will be possible to save about 12% on their import to London.
It is also known that the company will need additional licenses to extract natural gas through a hydraulic fracture or friction. This involves drilling deep wells into shale rock and using chemicals and water to extract high-pressure gas. At the same time, environmentalists warn that such extraction of gas and oil can lead to chemical pollution and earthquakes. Residents of London have negative attitude towards the development prospects of the field, who doubt that industrial production of oil and gas in the urban area will be safe.
