String of brazen knifepoint robberies near the River Lea

Police are investigating a string of knifepoint robberies near the River Lea after eight attacks in just five days.

Four of the attacks took place in less than an hour in Hackney, Tottenham and Waltham Forest.

The suspects have used unnecessary threats and violence, attacking victims after they had handed over property.

There have been increased patrols in the affected boroughs and activity has taken place to reassure the community, including warning local residents, many who have boats moored on the river.

Phones, wallets, jewellery and keys were stolen with the attackers concealing their identifies using scarves, hoods and balaclavas.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Hackney CID via 101 or via Twitter @MetCC quoting operation name 'Glanford'.
