Chain-reaction crash in Chatham-Kent kills two, police say

Two people are dead and two others injured after a fatal three-vehicle crash on Kent Bridge Road at the intersection of River Line in Chatham-Kent Tuesday afternoon.

Chatham-Kent Police Sgt. Jason Chickowski said the two people killed as a result of the collision were in the same vehicle.

Police at the scene said there were a series of collisions between the vehicles, but it was unclear what started the chain-reaction crash that occurred just before 3 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.

It appeared two of the vehicles involved were a minivan and a sport utility vehicle. A large debris field could also be seen at the crash scene.

Kent Bridge Road is closed between Longwoods Road and Fairview Line was expected to remain closed for several hours Tuesday evening.
