Could you employ one of our interns?

Mortarboards were thrown into the air astwelve interns celebrated graduating from a yearlong internship.

Project Search is a supported internship programme for young people between the ages of 16-25 with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). It's coordinated by the College of North West London (CNWL) in partnership with Brent Council - writes

The students began their internships last year at Charing Cross Hospital. The placements helped them develop a range of skills and qualities desired by employers, prior to finding full-time, paid employment.

Sean, one of the interns, said:

"The job I've got is fantastic, I have met loads of new people too. I feel really proud to work at Charing Cross Hospital. I'm over the moon about having a job and my parents are very pleased with me."

His mum, Sandra, said:

"He has really enjoyed it as it has given him such an opportunity. He is much more confident in himself and can now make real choices about what he wants to do."

Cllr Mili Patel, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said:

"Project Search is a brilliant opportunity for young people with special educational needs and disabilities to gain access into full-time, paid employment.

"These interns are hardworking and keen to kickstart their careers and employers will see the invaluable benefit they can bring to an organisation."
