Former Mayor raises over £50,000 for Brent charities

Former Mayor of Brent, Cllr Parvez Ahmed, has handed over a total of £50,100 raised during the course of his year as Mayor to his three chosen charities.

Over the course of 2016 to 2017, Cllr Ahmed attended over 800 events and raised funds for the Brent Centre for Young People, which supports young people with mental health issues, community foodbank Sufra North West London, and Community Action on Dementia, which aims to create a dementia-friendly borough. The total amount was split between the three charities, with each receiving £16,700 - writes Council of Brent.

Taking place in Brent Civic Centre, the event was also attended by Hampstead and Kilburn MP Tulip Siddiq and Leader of Brent Council Muhammed Butt.
