East Dunbartonshire is recognized as the best place to live for women in the UK. These are the findings of the Woman's Hour study for BBC Radio. Thus, the Scottish district, bordering Glasgow, came out on top in most of gender indicators. In this case, the worst place for women was Islington, which is in the north of London.
The analysis carried out by the National Research Center took into account such nuances as the gender pay gap and the quality of education. It used data from a number of sources, including the Annual Population Survey under the National Statistics "2016" and the 2011 census. Out of all 380 local districts of Great Britain, East Dunbartonshire came out on top in quality of life for women, where factors such as a sense of happiness and access to green areas are highly evaluated.
At the same time, Islington takes last place largely because it is one of the least affordable places to buy a home in the country. Here the average price of a house is 16 times higher than the average income. Local residents also feel the lowest level of happiness and satisfaction with life.
