Could you help keep a family together?

This year's National Adoption Week, which runs from 16 - 22 October, highlights the importance of keeping families together by fostering or adopting siblings.

Figures from the national adoption information service, First4Adoption, based on the latest government information, show that brothers and sisters wait longer than single children to be placed with a "forever family".

In Brent, there are many children and young people who require loving, supportive families to help get their lives back on track. An information evening is planned on Thursday 2 November from 6-8pm at Brent Civic Centre, open to anyone looking to find out more about adoption or fostering.

Cllr Mili Patel, Brent Council's Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said:

"Many children and young people, through no fault of their own, are unable to live with their birth family. Sometimes, it may be one child who requires care, other times it is brothers or sisters in need of fostering or adoption. Having a stable family environment is important for children as they become young adults and is vital for their long-term well-being.

"This year we are asking families to look into their hearts and homes by considering fostering or adoption in Brent. You can show your support for our campaign by using the #supportadoption hashtag on social media."
