One of the local councils in London initiated the creation of the first non-profit gas provider for the population. It is expected that the new gas service provider will help the poorest segments of the population. It is about Borough of Islington, which is controlled by the Labor Party. It was here that they decided to invest £100 thousand in the creation and promotion of Angelic Energy to the energy market. It should be emphasized that this initiative appeared immediately after the publication of Ofgem's report on the state of the gas and electricity market. In particular, it spoke about the need to help the poor to overcome the debt crisis caused by the difficulties in paying bills for consumed gas and electricity.
The council assures that the new provider will help the poor to cope with paying for gas. Especially those, who use meters with actual payment for consumed gas, will benefit. Exactly such consumers usually have to pay more than those who have a fixed payment for gas supply. It is known that in Islington, about 20% of consumers do not have gas meters and a fifth of them have a monthly income below the average. Management Angelic Energy assures that their approach to charging gas fees will allow subscribers to save hundreds of pounds each year. In particular, the company's management emphasizes that for many years in London tariffs for gas are too high, and with the advent of a new provider the market should be reformatted.
