A man who attacked an officer working for Sutton Council’s parking enforcement contractor has been jailed for 18 weeks.

On 12 June, the officer was in Wallington High Street when he was punched in the back of the head and face, causing him to fall to the ground and making his nose bleed. The victim recognised his attacker as someone who had verbally abused him previously for issuing a Penalty Charge Notice to a member of the attacker’s family - writes newsroomsutton.co.uk.
The attacker fled but was captured on council CCTV, identified, arrested, and charged. Police praised the public response which saw shoppers and shop workers quickly rush to the victim’s aid.
On 10 October at Croydon Magistrates Court, Christopher Paul Jake Schot, aged 29, of Harcourt Road, Wallington, pleaded guilty to assaulting a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm and was sentenced to prison for 18 weeks.
