The best places to relax in autumn outside London

No matter what the Londoners say, in Britain there is not only the capital, but many other amazing places. In London, of course, there is always something to do, but leaving it for at least a day means to get a new pleasant experience. In autumn, it is time for such trips, because the air becomes cleaner, and the colors - brighter. We have chosen for you the most attractive routes, which can be accomplished in just a day.

New Forest. This picturesque part of England has attracted visitors since 1079, when William the Conqueror proclaimed it his "new forest for hunting". It took almost a thousand years, and the name has stuck. The best way to admire this forest - to ride a horse. On a horse, a bicycle or on the neck of your beloved one: the view from above is even more beautiful. In addition to ancient trees, you can see bizarre villages here. Probably the most interesting place is Buckler`s Hard, a village in which ships have been built for centuries. Exactly there, the fleet of Admiral Nelson was created. From Paddington to Southampton Central you can reach in an hour and a half, so you will not spend much time on the road.

Canterbury. This city is a mixture of modernity and the Middle Ages. Particularly striking is Canterbury Cathedral. In addition to spiritual pleasures, there are also secular ones, for example, the Marlowe Theatre. And you still will have time to return to London for cocktails, because the road from St. Pancras to Canterbury West will take less than an hour.

South Downs Beachy Head - one of the main attractions of South Downs. From the center of London, you can get there in just an hour. You will admire the beautiful city of Arundel, which has an ancient castle. Do you want to plunge into the past fully? Then take a walk in the garden and see how the knights of the castle arrange demonstration battles with weapons and without it. Well, if you prefer active leisure, stroll or ride a bike along the South Downs Way.

Great Yarmouth & The Norfolk Broads. In the Great Yarmouth's Pleasure Beach, come more than a million visitors a every year. This place will like those who are interested in British history, because there is the Nelson Museum (named after the local hero) and the pier Wellington. You can also visit Norfolk Broads. If you have time, command ship and feel yourself like an admiral, floating on the waters of East Anglia. The route from Liverpool Street to Great Yarmouth takes three hours, if you go by train.

Bath. The debate about how to pronounce the name of this city correctly, probably, will never stop. But anyway, this beautiful place definitely worth a visit. One of the main highlights - Roman baths. It was thanks to it that the city got its name. When you learn more about the history of Britain and the Roman Empire, plunge into the water and let the knowledge soak in. Then you need to get out of there and run to Bath Abbey and the American Museum of Britain, because this is the only Museum of America that is located not in the US. Before you leave, try Sally Lunn bun – it is delicious pastries, which Jane Austen herself loved, so it should be nice. From Paddington to Bath Spa, you can drive in less than an hour and a half.

Cotswolds. Cotswolds looks like a picture. This place is located on the territory of five counties, and here are lovely villages and beautiful nature. Stow-on-the-WoldMoreton-in-Marsh and Bourton-on-the-Water are the most beautiful villages in England. Here you can walk around and take a look in a pub for a lunch, and then visit a local confectionery. But the real pearl is at the south: it is Castle Combe, which regularly can be noticed in the movies. From Paddington you can get to Cheltenham Spa in two hours, and from there - already in Cotswolds.
