Two men have been handed hefty fines of over £500 each after being found guilty of spitting on the streets of Brent.

52 year old Petrica Farauna, of Kings Road in Kensington and Chelsea and 42 year old Francisc Pusok of Kingsbury Road in Brent were both found guilty of spitting offences and fined £150 each at Willesden Magistrates Court on Tuesday 7th November - writes brent.gov.uk.
In addition to the fines, the men were also ordered to pay a £30 victim surcharge and costs to the council of £376 each.
Cllr Eleanor Southwood, Lead Member for Environment, said:
“Spitting in public is unhygienic and is not acceptable on the streets of Brent, which is why we made a decision to use the powers we have at our disposal to crack down on this antisocial behaviour.
“By issuing these fines we are sending out a strong message that this unpleasant behaviour will not be tolerated in the borough.
