Londoner to make history becoming first foreign national to lead Rio Carnival dance
The huge event that sees millions dancing their way around the streets of Rio de Janeiro will see its usual array of colour and sounds as it begins. Typically, samba schools from the city each have their own floats which carry dancers through the parade. It is on one of these floats that Londoner Samantha Flores will be, not only dancing, but also writing her name into the history books - writes itv.com.

The 37-year-old will lead the Rio carnival as she takes the main role on the lead float on Friday. It is the first time in 78 years that a non-Brazilian has been given the role and this is all despite Flores not having any professional dance training. Samantha, from Kentish Town, London, will be atop the Imperio da Tijuca samba school’s float in traditional carnival attire, in front of huge crowds.
