Tricar’s 24-storey tower on York Street just got a bit bigger. Council announced Tuesday that the city will sell the property at 330 Thames St. to Tricar for $260,000. The site is beside 32-40 York St. where Tricar is building its newest development. Last year, council approved two separate but similar plans for the tower — which is mainly residential, but also includes some commercial space — to allow for Tricar to build with or without 330 Thames St.

Land purchase backed
It’s going to cost the city close to$1 million to expropriate land at 332 Wharncliffe Rd. N. that’s needed for the widening of Western Road. The site is currently home to a retail plaza. Council voted Tuesday to purchase the site, at the corner of Wharncliffe and Western roads, for $925,000.
