Orkney Islands in Scotland was named the best region for living in rural areas, and the archipelago was honored with this for the second year in a row.
Halifax's annual survey Rural Areas Quality of Life Survey assesses in which region of the country there is the best place to live for those who want to live in rural areas. At the same time, various factors were taken into account, such as the level of crime, the level of employment of the population, the standards of education and the level of satisfaction with the way of life of the local population.
The second place was taken by Rutland from the East Midlands, followed by Wychavon from the West Midlands and Winchesterand from South East.
Halifax notes that the residents of Rutland can boast of the most spacious housing: on average, each house has 6,4 living rooms.
