Ice, rain and wind close schools and cancel buses

Ice, snow and rain brought nasty road conditions Monday and a slew of school closings and bus cancellations in the counties around London, school and bus officials say.

The following schools in the Thames Valley District school board were cancelled because of electricity outages:

  • Eagle Heights P.S.
  • A.J. Baker P.S.
  • McGillivray Central P.S.
  • Zorra Highland Park P.S.
  • Hickson Central P.S.
  • New Sarum P.S.
  • Pierre Elliott Trudeau F.I.
  • Adelaide-W.G. MacDonald P.S.
  • Laurie Hawkins P.S.
  • Thamesford P.S.
  • Wilberforce P.S.
  • Annandale School
  • Lord Dorchester S.S.
  • Northdale Central P.S.
  • River Heights P.S.
  • East Williams Memorial P.S.
  • North Middlesex District H.S.
  • Parkhill-West Williams P.S.
  • South Dorchester P.S.

Also closed because of outages in Parkhill are the following Catholic board schools:StDavid’s, Dorchester, St Patrick’s Lucan andSacred Heart in Parkhill.

Buses were also cancelled for dozens of public and Catholic schools in neighbouring counties, with the list reported here.

Five teenagers have been jailed for fatally stabbing a man in an unprovoked attack as he returned home from an appointment with his pregnant partner.
