Employees who ensure the safe operation of airhab, are dissatisfied with salaries and zero contracts and intend to interrupt work during the second May bank holidays.
The trade union Unite announced a strike by the technical personnel of Luton Airport: the operators of the luggage terminal, firefighters and security personnel are unhappy with low salaries and the prevalence of zero contracts. The protest will be protracted, but discrete - employees of different departments will stop working at different times in the period from 07:00 on May 25th to 06:30 on May 30th.
The decision about asynchronous protest stops of work is taken to minimize damage to passengers, but Unite warns that failures in the usual coherent work schedule will still be very noticeable for travelers.
"Passenger traffic at Luton Airport is steadily growing, profits are increasing; In April alone, 1.3 million people passed through the gates of Luton. The burden on the airport is growing for the fifteenth month in a row, and this is more than a good reason to increase the salary of the staff", - the trade union said in a statement.
